Founded in 1998, Wild Blue Yonder started with 2 boats and 18 wetsuits, and the owners lived in a campground! Now, we have a rafting facility with change rooms, 10 boats and we can put 50 people down the river at one time. Plus, we have multi-day packages with activities and accommodations for groups of up to 250 people! 2016 was an exciting year as we added a second location in Revelstoke.
Wild Blue Yonder is dedicated to providing a safe and fun outdoor experience. We meet or exceed industry standards, and hold authorization permits or access agreements with government and industry. We carry $2 million liability insurance on trips & vehicles, we belong to the Professional River Outfitters Association of Alberta, and we take an active role in promoting tourism in our community.
THE PRINCIPALS: Owner Johannes Zwart, or Yo as he's usually known, has nearly 30 years of experience as a guide: canoeing, dog-sledding, rafting and many other skills, making him a well-rounded Team Leader. Yo has a Kinesiology degree from Western University, and a diploma from the prestigious adventure tourism program at Thompson Rivers University. The other owner, Gina Goldie, has been an entrepreneur for almost 30 years. Her strong business skills, combined with a national designation in graphic design, has made Gina into a versatile content developer and marketing wizard. And, when she's not designing a marketing campaign or managing the office, she might be taking a group down the river as a guide! Finally our Revelstoke Manager, Cory Beisel a class 4+ raft guide, has been a part of the Wild Blue Yonder family since 2003. Outside of guiding guests through whitewater, Cory also has a history of rock climbing and canoe guiding.
THE CRAZY RIVER STAFF: Who we are today is due largely to the help of some wonderful family, staff and volunteers. We are still a family run operation: pictured above are Gina and Yo, as well as Gina's son Freeman and his partner, Annie, who are now managers. Gina's niece, Quinn, is learning the ropes and training to be a guide. Our youngest staffer is Rio - only 9! Already she helps out whenever and wherever she can! Our other guides and staff are featured on the Guides & Staff page.
KEEPING IT SAFE!
